Acne and Cosmetics

All over the world, the word “Acne!” in itself seems to strike fear into the hearts of teenagers.

It doesn’t really matter that acne affects anywhere from 85% to 98% of teenagers, when it happens to any one individual, they seem to think they are the only teenager who ever had a pimple.

While teenage boys hate acne just as much as teenage girls, boys suffer through it and girls turn to using cosmetics to hide it….

Making an acne outbreak appear less noticeable is a perfectly natural things to do, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to do it.

Since girls use cosmetics to enhance their appearance, making the lips redder or fuller, making the eyelashes appear longer or giving the cheeks a healthy glow - covering up the blemishes should be considered a logical next step.

Since the cosmetic industry knows that covering blemishes rank just as high as rosy cheeks, they’ve developed concealers, products designed specifically to cover up blemishes. These come in many forms and shapes.

Some come in cake forms just like pressed face powder, some are liquid and come in bottles like other base make up products, and yet others come in tubes just like lipstick and is applied like lipstick, just not on the lips :)

One thing to remember when using this type of product, is that they need to be thoroughly cleaned off the skin before going to bed. If left on the face during the sleep, all concealers contribute to clogging the pores and intensifying the acne outbreaks.

Bottom line is that if concealers makes you feel better about yourself, go for it! Using concealers is just fine. But remember to use your facial wash before going to bed!

Always clean your face completely, and after patting it dry with a clean towel apply your acne fighting medications.
