Acne Face Wash - Which One Works For You?

Which acne face wash is best for you comes down to what substances your skin type can cope with.

Although many skin types tolerate products based on benzoyl peroxide, others don’t. I’ve found benzoyl peroxide based products to be the most effective products in fighting acne, but you should only use them if you’re lucky enough to not suffer from the side effects.

So which acne face wash product is the best? I’ll present a couple of different products here, so you can draw your own conclusions. There’s really no point in limiting yourself to a single product, but make sure when you try a new product to give it some time to take effect on your skin. Sometimes this can take up to 2 months, and sometimes even longer….

When you do try a new product, stick with it for a while to see what it does for your acne as swapping and changing acne face was brands every 2 weeks won’t do anything to help fight your acne. Maybe it turns out to be the best face wash for you, who knows?

Clearasil Daily Facial Wash
This is one of the first acne face wash products to hit the market. It’s well known for it’s effectiveness and is sold in supermarkets and pharmacies all over the world. Clearasil Daily Face Wash is a soap replacement that contains a foaming ingredient used to wash oils and dirt away.

The active ingredient in this product is Tricoslan (0.30%) and a 6.5 oz. bottle costs between $4 and $5.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash
In my personal experience, this is one of the best face wash products. Neutrogena describes it as an “oil free acne wash” that “rinses clean, leaving no pore clogging residue”. It contains skin comforters, soothing and conditioning the skin, preventing skin irritation. My skin wasn’t irritated byu this product so I can definitely recommend it!

The active ingredient is salicylic acid (2%) and a 6 oz. bottle costs somewhere between $5.50 and $7.

Purpose Gentle Cleansing Acne Wash
This product is a dermatologist recommended face wash. Soap free, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic (which simply means it doesn’t clog the pores). This product is claimed to be gentle even for sensitive skin and can be used twice a day without irritation. It was true for me when I tried it, but I still prefer Neutrogena and Clearasil.

It contains: Water, Sorbitan Laurate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG150 Distearate, Quatermium-15, Tetrasodium, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauroampho Acetate Phosphate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate and fragrances.

So, which one is best?
These are the only three I’ve tried, but there are many more face wash products on the market. I prefer Clearasil Daily Face Wash, but there’s no way for me to tell which one would work best for you.

You should take you skin type and tolerance into consideration when determining which acne face wash you want to use. It’s all up to personal experience and preferences, but you should definitely try different products before determining which one works best for you.
